The Whittington U’s Practical Pistol III Course is the Advanced level Defensive Sidearm instruction that focuses on lowlight engagements, while employing a strong fundamental interaction with the firearm along with Principles of Cover.  Support side engagements with the non-dominant hand are also a large portion of this course, with scenario based engagements rounding out the Practical Pistol Series. 

The WU Practical Pistol series focuses on Violence as a Means of Last Resort with the defense of us and our loved ones as part of an overall lifestyle change. 

Practical Pistol III will cover:

Static Fire/Body Position Refresher Drills

Movement/Principles of Cover on Reactive Fire Range

Advanced Movement Drills:

     Alternate Firing Positions

Lowlight Engagements

Support Side Engagements

Scenario Based Engagements


Note:  This is a progressive curriculum.  We require students to take the courses in succession:  PPI - PPII - PPIII - Masters



What you will need:  (packing list is for each individual course)

  • Sidearm (semi-automatic or revolver)
  • 3 magazines/speed loader minimum
  • 500 rounds ammunition
    • No Handloaded Ammunition Accepted in the Course
  • Holster (Open or Concealed)
    • No pocket holsters
  • Sturdy Belt
  • Knee Pads
  • Elbow Pads
  • Hearing Protection
  • Eye Protection
  • Sunscreen
  • 100 oz Water per day
  • Flashlight (Mounted or Unmounted – or both)



Course Schedule: Practical Pistol III*:

Day 1:

1300-1400 - Static Fire/Body Position Review

1400-1530 – AFP Planes Drill

1530-1700 – AFP Free Movement Drill

1700-2000 – Evening Break/Dinner

2030-0030 – Lowlight Engagements

·         Static Fire

·         Individual Movement Drills/Principles of Cover

Day 2:

1000-1200 – Support Side Static Fire

1200-1400 – Support Side Individual Movement Drills/Principles of Cover

1400-1530 – Scenario Engagement

1530-1600 - Final Lecture
