Precision Long Range (PLR) I

The School of 1000 Yards Precision Long Range (PLR) I introduces students to the art and science of Precision Long Range Shooting with classroom instruction, strong fundamental focus with both shooter/spotter teams and known distance data gathering.

Day 1: Classroom Instruction

0900 – Introduction

0900-0945 – Internal Ballistics

1000-1045 – External Ballistics

1100-1145 – Marksmanship

1200-1245 – Lunch

1300-1345 – Optics

1400-1530 – Rifle Sight-in

1600-1645 – Final Day Lecture

Day 2: Known Distance Shooting

0900-1145 – Known Distance Shooting 400-800 Yards

1200-1245 – Lunch

1300-1630 – Known Distance Shooting 400-800 Yards

Day 3: Known Distance Shooting

0900-1145 – Unknown Distance Shooting 600-1200 Yards

1200-1245 – Lunch

1300-1630 – Unknown Distance Shooting 600-1200 Yards

1645-1700 –Final Lecture

Required and Suggested Equipment: 

Required:

 ·         Rifle chambered in acceptable cartridge/caliber for the engagement distances

·         Sling

·         Spotting Scope w/Tripod

·         Pack

o   Used as a primary shooting rest

o   Bipods are also allowed as secondary rest

·         Hearing Protection/Eye Protection

·         Shooting Mat or equivalent

·         200 Rounds of ammunition

o   More is encouraged

o   Handloads are acceptable

·         Rifle Optic

o   10X minimum

o   100MOA/29Mil Elevation Travel preferred

·         Rifle Cleaning Kit

·         Pack or Rucksack

·         Water Drinking Container

·         Waterproofing Material

o   Poncho or tarp

o   garbage bags

·         Bug Spray

·         Sun block

This is a progressive curriculum and must be taken in order:  PLR I - PLR II - PLR III.  Each course curriculum leads into the next.

Course participants may also purchase an ammunition package with the appropriate round count.

**AMMUNITION PACKAGE IS RESTRICTED TO ONE PER PERSON PER COURSE**
