Precision Long Range Masters:  Positions

The PLR Masters Course: Positions focuses on firing positions that occur in real world situations, such as expedition hunting.  Students will work in Shooter/Spotter Teams on reactive steel targets in the Backcountry Training Area. 

Limited foot movement is included in this Masters Course, however the weight carried is minimum and any additional equipment is at the students discretion. 

PLR Masters: Positions includes:             

        Locational Engagements

o   Utilizing natural terrain for firing support

o   Shooting Platform Construction

o   Navigation

        Map Reading/Orienteering

o   Limited Movement

o   Range Estimation Techniques

o   Utilization of Terrain

        Targets of Unknown Distance

        High Angle Engagements

 

The Precision Long Range Masters Course Schedule*:

 

Day 1:

0700:  Meet at Gunslingers 2; Movement to Backcountry Training Area

0830 1000:  Field class on Map Reading

1030 1130:  Field Class on Natural Support

1130 1230:  Lunch

1230 1630:  Position Engagements

1630 1700:  Final Days Lecture

 

Day 2: 

0700:  Meet at Gunslingers 2; Movement to Backcountry Training Area

0830 1100:  Movement Scenario Engagements

1100 - 1200:  Lunch

1230 1630:  Movement Scenario Engagements

1700 1730:  Final Day Lecture

 

Required:

                  Rifle chambered in acceptable cartridge/caliber for the engagement distances

                  Sling

                  Spotting Scope w/Tripod

                  Pack

o   Used as a primary shooting rest

o   Bipods are also allowed as secondary rest

                  Hearing Protection/Eye Protection

                  Shooting Mat or equivalent

                  200 Rounds of ammunition

o   More is encouraged

                  Handloads are acceptable

                  Rifle Optic

o   10X minimum

o   100MOA/29Mil Elevation Travel preferred

                  Rifle Cleaning Kit

                  Water Drinking Container

                  Waterproofing Material

o   Poncho or tarp

o   Garbage Gags

                  Bug Spray

                  Sun block

This is a progressive curriculum and must be taken in order:  PLR I - PLR II - PLR III.  Each course curriculum leads into the next.

Masters Courses are designed to present challenging scenarios based on real world situations.  Students can choose the Masters they would like to attend based on the topic; the only pre-requisite for Masters is PLR I - III.  

Course participants may also purchase an ammunition package with the appropriate round count.
